I just got back from seeing Watchmen and was overall not impressed with the movie. It faithfully followed the story and the spirit of the graphic novel very well, and I think this the heart of the movie’s problem. Admittedly, I am not a fan of the original book. I took about 6 months to get through it because I kept on getting bored with the story and putting it down. Two hours of the movie became bogged down with these same character backstories that I found even less compelling than I did in the comic. I was even “prepared” to see Dr. Manhattan’s johnson, but I’m suspicous that the studio included this unnecessary nudity because the storyline lacks spice. The word is getting out that the movie is a bit of a snore, but I’m hoping that this movie’s lackluster success does not keep Hollywood from releasing Iron Man 2.
